Stag Do Activities - Clay Shooting, Bushcraft, Fly Fishing

There are a number of options for stag parties at Meon Springs. Firstly, take a look at our Wild Experiences webpage for some great ideas in the woods. If that doesn't rock your boat and you're into fly fishing you can arrange a fully instruction on the lakes or just bring your own rods and try your luck at catching a trout or two.
Alternatively, bring your stag friends down to crack a few clays then have a few beers overlooking the lake. Our Saturday am Shooting Party is a real hit as a stag do activity. See our Clay Shooting page.

THE BUSHCRAFT STAG PARTY AGENDA
Your stag do agenda can be completely bespoke to your requirements, however to give you an idea, many stag parties do the following.
Arrive usually about 3-4pm at Meon Springs Fly Fishery Lodge. Enjoy a cup of tea or a few beers overlooking the lakes. When everyone has arrived the trek up to the bushcraft centre begins (your luggage and provisions will be taken up for you).
The bushcraft centre has comfortable Bell Tents for you to sleep in and a firepit, with a suspended parachute to keep you sheltered. On arrival activities ensue to prepare your evening meal. This could include a butchery session, where you get a chance to prepare a wild venison for your supper. Alternatively it might be foraged plants from the woods. You will make your own fire by friction (instruction provided, where necessary).
After dinner, activities can continue or you may prefer to chill out and catch up with friends, talking about the impending marriage.
The next morning, we will prepare a fry up or cereals, fresh coffee and fruit juice (it's up to you) and activities continue. It could be that we go spoon whittling or something more active - like axe throwing.
Departure time for your stag party on day 2 is entirely up to you.

WHY DO WE RUN WILD BUSHCRAFT STAG PARTIES?

The question should be, "Why not do a Bushcraft Stag Party"?
Bushcraft stag parties offer a completely different experience for groups of guys (and sometimes girls) to enjoy some special time in the wild doing stag activities that many would consider unconventional and a bit different.
One such activity is making fire. Sounds simple, right? In the modern world, it would be - however this is deep in the wood where you have to find or make suitable kindling or fuel then light the fire, without matches or lighters. -an honour often that many stag parties reserve for the stag.
As well as drinking beer, another stag activity is identifying plants that are edible or not edible. An essential Stag survival skill, other than surviving the hangover on the following morning.
