Shepherd's Huts in Hampshire | Meon Springs

Simple yet luxurious

ONLINE booking
Come and stay in one (or more) of six Shepherd's Hut located right by the lakes at Meon Springs Fly Fishery.

As well as being great for anglers, The Shepherd's Huts make an ideal break for couples or individuals visiting Hampshire and The South Downs for walking, cycling or just chilling out for quiet relaxation or undertaking a project, such as writing a book.

The setting, in this part of the South Downs National Park, is extremely rural.  No sound of main roads and traffic here, yet it is extremely accessible from London, Bristol and anywhere in the South/South East.

Staying with us adds convenience not only to anglers (who don't pay a fishing visit fee, whilst staying with us) but also if you wish to learn fishing or try your hand at clay shooting.

Superb!

"This was our 5th visit to Meon Springs and it never disappoints. We stayed in the shepherds huts which are clean and cosy and have everything you need. The fishing lakes are beautiful and my husband had a great time. Would definitely recommend a stay here even if you aren’t keen on fishing, there."

shepherd's hut types at meon springs

Meon Springs has three types of Shepherd's Huts.

One of the Shepherd's Huts (Olive) is a Downland Construction Shepherd's Hut.  It has the bed and all facilities integral in the hut.

Our Shepherd's Hut duo, made on the farm - (Hawthorn 1&2), has its own kitchen, shower and toilet in an annex block between the two huts, which allows them to be made up as a double or twin occupancy.

Four of the Shepherd's Huts, Damsel, Mayfly, Alder and Sedge are Riverside Huts.  They have all their facilities integral in the Shepherd's Hut and a double bed only that can fold up by day.  To see the difference, take a look at the pictures below.

fishing breaks

Shepherd's Hut customer learning to fish
Some years ago we worked out that the best fishing is at times that fishermen are generally not here.

This was one of the main reasons that we decided to locate the Shepherd's Huts, just yards from the banks, so that anglers and their partners can stay overnight and fish the early mornings and late evenings. This has worked extremely well for anglers and their partners alike.

For those who are keen to learn fishing or develop their skills, we have developed a special Fishing Break package.  Running over a couple of days, this break combines the best of a Meon Springs Experience Day, with plenty of time to practice and a couple of One to One sessions to hone your skills.

For more details, please email or call us.

out and about

The Thomas Lord pub in West Meon
In the local area there are loads of things to do for individuals and couples staying at the Shepherd's Huts.

In walking distance, there are the villages of East and West Meon, with their quaint country pubs, village shops and churches.  A nice morning trip is to stroll down to the local cafe in West Meon, or over the hill to East Meon.

Further afield, you can explore historic Portsmouth, medieval Winchester and everything in between.

We are not far from the beaches at Hayling Island or West Wittering and, if you're feeling adventurous a day trip to the Isle of Wight is also possible.

The Thomas Lord in West Meon and The George Inn plus the Izaak Walton  in East Meon are great places to eat and drink.

When you arrive at Meon Springs, we can give you much more personal information on things that will make you stay great.

We Would Love to Have You Visit Soon!
