Dairy Work at Whitewool Farm
Near East Meon, Hampshire
WE ARE LOOKING FOR FULL TIME, PART TIME AND RELIEF DAIRY STAFF
STARTING JULY/AUGUST 2026

Are you a person who likes routine, doesn't mind early starts and enjoys working outside?
We are a 400 cow dairy herd, in the upper Meon Valley, looking for people to join our team - milking cows, scraping yards (tractor), managing cubicle beds (sand) and general dairy farm duties.
This roles will suit people who enjoy structured work, takes pride in doing jobs properly, and value good animal care.

A Typical Day:
Morning
-
Start time: 4.00am
-
Set up the milking parlour and bring cows into the collecting yard

Either milk in the parlour or carry out yard scraping and cubicle management
Morning work typically finishes between 7.30am and 9.00am, leaving time to go home for a decent breakfast and lunch break.
Afternoon
-
Start time: 2.00pm
-
A slightly shorter shift covering similar duties to the morning.
FULL TIME
Contractually, the days can average 9½ hours, however most of the time the team finish before 5.30pm, making a total working day of around seven hours, with every other weekend off and days off in the week to make an average 5½ day week.
PART TIME
You can apply to cover one or more milking shifts per week on a fixed contract. Depending on your circumstances, this could be employed or self-employed.
RELIEF
You can apply to be on our relief milking rota. This is a role where we call you to cover holidays and busy periods, if you are available.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
All of our team are punctual, dedicated and work well as a team. Knowledge and skill is quickly spread throughout the team and where you have had little experience, you will soon learn.
THE FARM
Whitewool Farm is a progressive, outcome focused farm. Although an early start is needed, the working hours are good, with most days being less than 8 hours in total. We pay by salary or shift.

A Typical Week:
Team members work every second weekend and have a weekday off the following week.

Employment Type:
This role could be full time, or split part time, between two people.
Key Areas of Work:
Milking: Working in the milking parlour with one other person.
Dairy Yard Work: Getting cows to and from the parlour - managing their cubicles.
Future Development: The job could possibly progress to feeding cows and feeding calves.
Key Skills & Training:
In a short period of time, with training you will become a proficient milker, tractor driver and observer of cows. The job comes with no requirement of previous experience.
Key Requirements:
Must have a full driving licence and ability to get to work.
Physically fit and happy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Willing and able to get up for morning milkings starting at 4.15am
Willing to work weekends
Keen to learn and take on new tasks—no farming experience required!
Good work ethic, reliability, and an interest in farming
What We Offer:
Training provided in milking, machinery, and general farm skills.
A routine job, with regular hours and time off in the middle of the day.
Reasonable hours - less than 40 per week.

General Information
Whitewool Farm is a diversified dairy and arable farm running 400 cows, supplying milk to Sainsbury's combined with a number of non farming enterprises - Self Storage, Fly Fishing, Glamping and Corporate Events.
It has has a friendly and inclusive team of around 15 people.

The role
We’re looking for a friendly, reliable person to help turn around our yurts and shepherd’s huts between guests. Making everything clean, cosy, and lovely for the next arrivals.

What the team do -

Clean yurts and shepherd’s huts thoroughly

Change all bedding and make beds

Clean bathrooms, kitchenettes, and shared facilities

Restock essentials (towels, loo roll, logs, welcome items)

Be friendly and interested with departing guests

Report any damage or maintenance needs
Hours of work
Although it is a casual contract, normal hours are between 9am and 2.30pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Work available does vary, depending on occupancy and is busier in the Summer months than the winter.
We are flexible and the position can between around school drop off and pick up.
Extra work (by arrangement)
If you want more hours, other work at Meon Springs is sometimes available:

Helping with corporate events (setup, catering support, guest welcome)

Assisting with activities such as running the sauna and plunge pool experience.
