When it comes to luxury glamping in the UK, you’re spoilt for choice. From eco pods and safari tents to domes and gypsy caravans, there is something for everyone. Unlike staying in an anonymous hotel or B&B, luxury glamping is about the whole experience. The accommodation tends to be quirky and with bags of character, something out of the ordinary that people don’t experience every day.
The location also needs to be inspiring and is often embedded in the countryside or by the sea or lake. Why? Because, from the minute you wake up in the morning to that blissful time at night when you slip into slumber, you are at one with your environment. And that’s exactly what’s on offer at Meon Springs. |
Providing luxury glamping for family and friends
For families and groups, the yurt village is perfect for a weekend break. Sited in the stunning Meon Valley overlooking the South Downs, each of the six yurts is sited among trees overlooking fields. With plenty of space to unwind and breathe, the yurts are highly decorated with Mongolian designs, patterns and colours.
Each yurt sleeps up to six people on beds and futons – and all come with crisp white linen. If there is a chill in the air, a wood burning stove with logs supplied for free makes your yurt cosy and warm. Hot showers and a fully equipped kitchen in the ‘Yurtery’ – a communal area for visitors – completes the experience.
For anyone used to camping, this is a massive step up from hunkering down in a sleeping back under a tent canopy. This is not just luxury camping – it’s luxury glamping.

Luxury glamping for grown-ups
Then again, if you’ve ever fancied staying in a luxury shepherd’s hut, then you’re in luck. Down by the fly-fishing lakes at Meon Springs there are six shepherd’s huts that are great for couples or independent travellers. Two of the huts – Hawthorn and Montana – can be set up as doubles or twin beds. The other four all include double beds that are stowed away until needed.
All six luxury shepherd’s huts are self-contained with their own loo, shower, kitchenette and seating area. But while they are a real home from home, it’s their position in the valley that makes them so attractive – and why people keep coming back. With little light pollution, they’re ideal for star-gazing on a summer’s evening. There are miles of footpaths to explore and woods in which to lose yourself. Afterall, luxury glamping isn’t just about visiting a magical place – it’s about getting back to nature and de-stressing the mind.
And then there are the towns and villages where you can mooch around the shops before heading to a country pub. Or if you want to go further afield there is the New Forest and all the history and places to visit along the south coast of England.
