You don’t really need to leave the valley…

If you are staying at Meon Springs for a short break or family holiday; you may find that there is plenty to keep you occupied without even leaving our beautiful valley.

FLY FISHERY LODGE AND CAFE
There is a cafe at the fishery, where you can have free tea and coffee or buy a breakfast, lunch or snack throughout the day.  The cafe is licensed, so you can also buy a beer or, if you wish, a crate of beer or wine to take back to your yurts.

WALKING
There are a number of really good walks on the farm and nearby area.  East Meon is a 40 minute hike across the fields, where you will find a couple of pubs a village shop and a church.

Old Winchester Hill, a mile away, is an old Roman Hill Fort.  This is a lovely place to take the kids for a picnic.

When you arrive, we will give you a map of the local area, outlining where these walks are.

 FLY FISHING
There are various choices of fly fishing activities you can do.   If there are a group of you (up to six) who just want to find out what it’s all about, I suggest you consider a Taster session.

THE FISHING TASTER SESSION
This lasts for about one hour, during which time an instructor will show you how to cast, let you have a go and hopefully catch a fish or two for your barbecue in the evening.

The cost of this is £35 for a group of up to six, plus £7.50 per fish caught and taken.  The minimum age for children is seven.

THE FLY FISHING EXPERIENCE DAY
If you are more keen and want to make a day of it, book an Experience Day.  It costs £80 for one person and £65 per person for up to another three.

During the day, you will receive expert tuition and support, whilst twanging your rod across the lake.

The day is suitable for complete novices and improvers alike.  It includes a two fish ticket each, all tackle and EA day licences. Tuition is spread throughout the day.

THE TROUTMASTER TICKET
If you wish to fish on a number of occassions over your stay, you need to buy a Troutmaster ticket.   This entitles you to unlimited use of the fishery, over a three or four day stay. It costs £35 per adult plus £7.50 per fish caught.

Please see the Meon Springs Fly Fishery  part of the website for further details.

CLAY SHOOTING AND ARCHERY
for groups of six or more, we can organise clay shooting sessions and archery sessions.

Clay shooting is fully instructed and a morning or afternoon, shooting a Sporting layout of up to 50 clays costs £65 per person.

Archery, also fully instructed, costs £35 for a couple of hours.

BOOKING
ALL OF THESE ACTIVITIES NEED BOOKING IN ADVANCE.  Please give me a call or send an email, so that I can organise them for you.
