Fishing Tuition for Trout Fly Fishing

“Teach a man to fish and he'll be satisfied for a lifetime”

If there is one thing that makes Meon Springs stand out from the rest, it is our ability to teach fly fishing.

We have two highly experienced and qualified bailiffs, Keith and Roger plus a number of certificated instructors to help you develop your angling skills.

The Tuition Pathway

Our first suggestion for any "wannabee" angler is to leave your details to the right and receive our Free Getting Started Series.  This will give you the basic knowledge.

Then, if you want to have a go, join us for a Fly Fishing Experience Day, where you will have a great day out and learn the core skills.

After that, go out and get some practice then come back and book a "Series of 3", which consists of three sessions that will assess your ability, develop your skills and iron out all the bad habits before they become too embedded in your technique.

Then, even though you are a more experienced angler, there will probably be areas in which you are struggling a little.  In this instance, we can brush up your skills with sessions such as our Casting Analysis or a One to One, for specific guidance.

FLY FISHING EXPERIENCE DAYS
To find out what fly fishing is all about or to take your fishing for trout  to the next level, you’ll be hard pushed to find a better more enjoyable fishing day than our Fly Fishing Experience Day.

As an angling novice, you will learn:

  • What equipment you need to fish and how to set up your fishing tackle set.
  • The principles of casting a fly, to get the fishing line stylishly on the water.
  • How to mimic real fly action and effectively attract a trout to the hook.
  • What to do to strike a trout and keep the fish on the line, all the way to the bank.

If you've been fishing for a while, an Experience Day will be useful in brushing up your skills, learning things such as:

  • Choosing the right fly for the fish.
  • Taking your fly casting to the next level and learning new casts for special situations.
  • Learning crafty angling techniques to attract fish, when the going gets tough.
  • General guidance over the course of an enjoyable days fishing.

The day is run by our fishing bailiff or another qualified fishing instructor.  It includes a full days' fishing with a couple of fish to take home, any required tackle and, if required an EA fishing licence, supportive fishing tuition throughout the day.

A Fly Fishing Experience Day costs £85 per person or £160 for two.

You can buy an Experience Day at the fishery our you can buy it as a voucher on our gift voucher page.

THE SERIES OF 3

The Series of 3 is an ideal way to signficantly improve your skills and ability over a few weeks.

It consists of three sessions. The first to assess where you are at and build on your established skills (if any). The second, normally a couple of weeks later, will develop further knowledge and ability. The third, at least another four weeks on and after a certain amount of practice, will iron out any bad habits and teach you some of the advanced skills needed in tricky situations.

The Series of 3 costs £195 for the three days fishing, rod hire and all tuition.

You can buy a Series of 3 at the fishery our you can buy it as a voucher on our gift voucher page.

A CASTING ANALYSIS

An excellent cast looks smooth and effortless, yet like most things, it relies on applying a series of principles to perfect.  A Casting Analysis at our fly fishery, lasting for about an hour, will highlight any of the principles that you are violating and lead you towards that expert cast.

The fee for a Casting Analysis is £35, or £65 to include a two fish ticket for the day.

It can be purchased at the fishery or on our gift voucher page.

ONE TO ONES

To iron out any problems or take your fishing one level up, fishing tuition can be purchased on an hourly basis at £35 per hour.

Take a look at our gift voucher page or give us a call if you wish to purchase any of these in advance.
