Fly Fishing updates and tips for catching Trout

Wisdom from Carruthers...

If you wish to know what is happening on the fishery, including conditions on the lake, which flies are working and which to avoid, Carruther's weekly fishing tip, details of any lake closures, for corporate days and private functions and notification of trout master winners then leave your details to the right and we will send you our weekly update.

And for the first few weeks, you will also get our Getting Started Series, which will give you all the principles you need to know for fly fishing for trout on a Stillwater Fly Fishery.

Below is an example of the weekly update and a selection of trout fishing tips below that.

Meon Springs Update -

On the Lakes..
Fish sizes have been excellent recently, with averages now well up on last year and what’s more, with the warmer weather, these fish have been extremely sporty and fun to catch.

I often think it true that the best weather for fishing (i.e. cool and overcast) is the worst weather for the angler (wet & soggy).

The Roll Cast….

So many people really don’t understand how to do this cast, which limits their fishing to wide open spaces behind.  It is particularly useful at Meon Springs, because most fish can be caught on our far bank, which is restricted behind by a line of trees.

This cast only takes a couple of minutes to learn (but a lifetime to master…) and will double your fishing opportunities for places to fish.

Anyway to get the idea take a look at:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwBZbnb4cpY

Or pop down and see me and I will show you exactly how it’s done.

Troutmasters

Ray Wells caught a 5Lbs 13oz fish on Coombe Lake to a black and orange fritz.  Well done Ray….

Our January leader is Martin Andrews 6 1/2 Lbs to a cats whisker on Whitewool Lake.
