Meon Springs Self Storage is located up the A32 just near West Meon.  (According to google, just 29 minutes from Fareham).  Our self storage is different to many, in that it has 24/7 access, it is away from the traffic and you can drive into the building and right up to your unit, making it easy to unload and load.

What’s more, I think you’ll find our prices incredibly cheap, compared to some of the quotes you will receive in town. (Please leave your details to the right for an immediate email).

• The population of Fareham, is 110,000.  5% of whom are under the age of four.

• An 1860’s fort linking the Portsdown Hill forts to the east and the Gosport forts and defences to the south. Originally a line of three forts was proposed to link the other 2 lines, but only Fort Fareham was built.  Its interior is now a business park owned by Fareham Council and the exterior is decaying, overgrown and hidden by woods.

Local walks from the yurts

A great first outing is to take a stroll along our valley bottom to Meon Springs Fly Fishery, where you can grab a drink, a bite to eat and relax, whilst overlooking the lakes. You can also walk to East Meon and West Meon (both about 40 minutes), where you will find local shops, churches and pubs.

Paragliding information

The South Downs  on Whitewool Farm are ideal for paragliding in light North-Easterly winds.

Paragliding is by arrangement with The Sky Surfing Club only.   http://www.skysurfingclub.co.uk/

The field between the two clumps of trees is open for flying at all times in accordance with th Sky Surfing Club rules, except for the below restrictions:

Below are the Sky Surfing Club rules for flying at Whitewool.  Please adhere to them.

Please review the following paragraphs; they apply to all members.

The site is to be used for paragliding only.

A site warden MUST be onsite at all times for flying  to proceed.

A maximum of eight members, flying or not, onsite at any one time.

A maximum of eight vehicles parked. (Car sharing advised due to limited parking)

Large vehicles must use the Winchester Hill Reserve car park which is five minutes walk to the take off area. All cars must park to the South of the access stile on the off-road grass verge.

Low airtime (Red Ribbon) pilots have priority over more experienced pilots with the exception of site wardens. A maximum of two wardens (preference to coaches) is allowed to enable up to six low airtime pilots to fly and receive coaching.

All pilots must be full members of the BHPA and the Sky Surfing Club. *

Membership cards must be carried and produced if requested.

The site must not be used during any Bank Holiday.

This is to avoid build up of traffic on the minor road immediately behind the site as the public tend to ‘park up’ to watch the flying activities.

Flying may be suspended periodically through the day if excessive public attention causes traffic congestion on the adjacent road.

*Wessex, Thames Valley and the Isle of Wight members are welcome under the Reciprocal Agreement.

• FLYING WILL BE SUSPENDED if overcrowding arises. Duty warden will check pilots airtime and allow red ribbon pilots to stay plus a warden/coach, this number must not exceed eight the remainder will be asked to leave the site. Should they wish to continue to fly direct them to Chalton or Mercury.

     Should the problem continue the warden will close the site.

All landings must be made on the hill.

Avoid being ‘blown back’ over the road. There are no bottom landing fields outside the         

perimeters of the site which has generous areas within the boundaries.

No dogs allowed

Pilots are advised not to arrive onsite unless they know a warden will be present.

Flying can only proceed whilst a warden is present. Site’s Officer will endeavour to enlist sufficient wardens so at least one will be available on all flying days.

This sign must be removed at the end of flying.

This agreement will only stay in force if we can adhere  to it.

Everyone’s co-operation is vital.

The Course
The Course, as usual, will be challenging and innovative stretching the able shooter without embarrassing the less experienced shot.  The layout will consist of 120 targets over 15 stands.

We do have secure gun storage available.

The Open Shoot
There is an opportunity to shoot the layout outside of the competition on Monday 5th July 2010.  On this day, you just turn up and shoot.   All guns accepted.

2010 Review
The 2010 event was a huge success, with over 1500 people enjoying a beautiful day out in the country.

I would like to thank all the team at Meon Springs for a really GREAT day yesterday.  What a wonderful experience for my four grandchildren.  When I asked what their favourite part of the day was – here were their replies.

Jack – who is 10 – said the Falconry was fantastic and he would love to see them fly (so a trip to the Falcon Conservatory is now in the planning). 

James – who is 8 – enjoyed seeing the cows being milked and tasting the fresh milk.  He wants to try the clay pigeon shooting next time.

Katie – who is 7 – thought the ride on the huge tractor was ‘awesome!!

Luke – who is 6 – enjoyed ‘everything’ and now wants to buy a fishing rod.

I enjoyed just seeing the kids appreciate the countryside.  The event was definitely a great success – thanks to all the people running the event – from the person at the gate (where we paid for parking) to the really friendly people at the milking parlour and the tractor rides.  We met some great people with two little dogs (Bluebell – a six week old puppy and her mum). Fantastic that things were reasonably priced – when multiplying by five a day out can get quite expensive.  I just hope that the event retains it’s friendly and fun-filled feel.

I thought that the fishing experience of catching a trout was a great idea.

It was a very pleasant day helped by the fact that the admission and food & drinks were affordably priced, unlike so many events.

Finally many thanks to the Orvis guy who happily allowed me to try out the Helios rod purely for the fun of trying a top quality rod even after I told him that I could not possibly afford one!

Well done to everyone, and I’ll certainly be back next year.
