The Meon Springs Country Experience Day 2012
Date - Sunday 15th April 2012
10am to 4pm - Bring the whole family (including the dog)
The Countryside Day this year is booked, with perfect weather, for Sunday 15th April 2012 - the week after Easter and the last Sunday before School starts again.
This year there will be:
- More Fishing with Tuition and ability to practice Casting with instruction.
- Pony Rides for the Children.
- A newly developed Glamping & Families area at our Yurt Village, with a free tractor ride through our beautiful valley to get there.
The General Line-up
As well as things to watch and learn, there are plenty of activities in which you can participate such as fishing and shooting with tuition, archery and air rifles.
On the farm you can have a ride on a large 180hp tractor and watch the cows being milked.
As usual, there will be a number of catering and food stands, including our Yurtery Cafe located at Meon Springs Yurt Village, just a short tractor ride up the valley.
The event is child friendly, dog friendly and provisions are also available for disabled people.
Fishing & Fieldsports
Located in the area around the fishing lodge, once again we will be holding a number of demonstrations of the most up to date fishing tackle and skills.
- Have a go tuition; catch a trout with the help of our instructors.
- Improve your casting style with our experts.
- Visit our Fly-Tying Workshop.
- Enjoy Fishing Demonstrations from the masters of the sport.
- Crack a few clays, with our experts to guide you.
- Shoot our 50 bird sporting layout, with your own gun.
- Have a go at Archery & Air rifles
- Watch our Falconry Demonstration
- See how the Bloodhounds work a scent and catch their human quarry.
Farming
- Have a go at Tractor Driving,
- Tour our working Dairy Farm,
- Identify Tree Varieties in our tree dedication wood.
- See the Kit that grows the Wheat to make the Bread.
- Pony rides for the children.
Glamping and Families
New this year at our Yurt Village we have a Family and Glamping area that will have loads to do for the kids in terms of crafts, face painting, ice cream and chilling out in our Mongolian Yurts.

Entrance fee 2012 - £5.00 per adult. Children under 16 FREE
