Teach them something new - Childrens' Fishing at Meon Springs
"Everyone remembers catching their first fish and here at Meon Springs, we are dedicated to creating such memories."
If you were priviledged enough to learn fly fishing as a child, I'm sure that catching your first fish is something that you vividly remember. It often starts with a sense of curiousity as your parent or teacher gathers the fishing tackle together and in great detail assembles a rod and line, then adds a fly. This is sometimes followed by frustration, as nothing may happen for a while. Perhaps the fly needs changing or it needs fishing deeper or even shallower. Whatever the process, at some point - "Bang". The rod tip bends and a fish is on the line. This then has to be carefully navigated to the bank. Too fast and the fish will come off. Too slow - the same will happen. And once the fish is landed, despatched and a picture taken. This will without doubt become a very memorable moment and one which might start your child with a life long passion - or even just wet their appetite for coming back to the sport in later life. The Children's Fly Fishing Experience is designed with the younger generation in mind. That is children between the ages of 6 to 12. Parents and relatives are welcome to attend.
In the session (90 minutes) we cover a few basics of fly fishing
Once we have covered this we will be off to try and catch a fish. All of our fishing on this session is done on a catch and take basis, so Mums and Dads. you'll be cooking trout for tea if your child has been successful. All the equipment is provided for the session and it will only be a max of 3 children to per session. "I went here with my daughter who was offered a beginner’s lesson. It’s in an absolutely beautiful location I was wowed by it. There is a huge car park and a toilet block. The whole area is very well designed. The instructor was funny and very helpful, my daughter enjoyed her lesson and is now going to join a beginners group. The tea room was fantastic too and especially being greeted by 2 gorgeous dogs. They have plenty of seating and a real log fire, I was offered a free coffee too and wasn’t even going fishing! I can happily give this a 5 ⭐️ very warming review." |
